Patterson Lakes
Patterson Lakes provides a safe haven and access to Port Phillip Bay for
a multitude of recreational and emergency response vessels.
Access to the bay is through the Patterson River. The river mouth
has been fixed in position with rock training walls. These walls trap
littoral drift sand , predominantly from the North, which builds up against
the wall before spilling into the navigation channel.
A six month trial of diesel powered equipment and an 18m sand shifter
unit has been completed.
The equipment was powered by a single water pump and discharged sand 100m
south of the entrance.
